Travel information
Who is eligible to travel?
All citizens are eligible to travel by the vehicles of DKV Zrt using pre-paid tickets or tickets bought from the bus drivers, pre-paid passes or other travel certificates. Your through ticket enables you to travel along the full length of the line once, without breaking your journey. Your bus pass enables you to travel unlimitedly on the given line. Tickets, passes or travel certificates are not transferable to any other person and if requested, they are to be shown for ticket controllers.

Citizens eligible to travel unlimitedly (under Governmental Regulation)
a.) children under 6 travelling with adults;
b.) Hungarian citizens over 65 years;
c.) EU member state citizens over 65 years;
d.) retired foreign citizens over 65 receiving Hungarian retirement allowance;
e.) foreign citizens over 65 years under the Act on Hungarians Living in Neighbouring countries;
f.) foreign citizens above 65 years under international contracts;
g.) refugees over 65 years;
h.) blind people;
i.) people with hearing impairment;
j.) children whose parents are entitled to receive increased family allowance and also people who are regarded as gravely disabled under the Act of XXVI of 1998;
k.) one person accompanying children whose parents are entitled to receive increased family allowance, gravely disabled people under the Act of XXVI of 1998, blind people and people with hearing impairment;
l.) invalid servicemen, war widows;
m.) a person accompanying invalid servicemen;
n.) a person who is invalid in at least 75 % or who is the family member of invalid servicemen.
You can confirm your eligibility with your documents proving you are entitled to concession fares, with your identity card or with your equivalent personal documents.

Who are eligible to use student passes? (under Government Regulation)
a.) nursery school children over 6 years;
b.) children of 6-14 years;
c.) full time or night school students of secondary or vocational secondary education as long as they continue their studies, on all transport routes;
d.) full time or night school students of tertiary education on all transport routes;
e.) pupils and students in full time or night school education who are entitled to freedom of movement and residence and who are under the Act on Hungarians Living in Neighbouring countries;

Who are eligible to buy pensioner passes? (in case of those under 65 years, under Government Regulation)
a.) people who receive retirement allowances on their own right or remunerations under equal judgement;
b.) Hungarian citizens who have resettled in Hungary receiving their retirement allowances from abroad;
c.) clergymen receiving pension subsidies;
d.) guardians and people who are in need of guardians, custodians and those who are in need of custodians;
e.) people who receive invalidity allowances;
f.) people who receive regular social allowances from the local municipality unless they are employed.

Who are entitled to buy passes to parents of young children? (under Municipality Regulation)
Citizens entitled to use passes to parents of young children are those persons who reside in Debrecen (as it is registered in their official documents proving their home addresses), who receive childcare allowance (GYES) or child-rearing allowance (GYET).

Who are entitled to buy complementary passes? (Under Municipality Regulation)
Citizens entitled to buy complementary passes are those people who have valid, at least monthly passes (season tickets) issued by VOLÁN companies and MÁV-START Zrt. These complementary passes are exclusively valid together with passes issued by VOLÁN companies and MÁV-START Zrt.

Regular passes
Anyone is entitled to buy regular photo card passes. Exclusively for legal entities, the regular card pass can be issued without photos.
Validity of passes:

Regular passes and pensioner passes are valid with photo cards (or with cards without photos) issued by DKV Zrt., in pass casings.

Student passes are to be used with valid student photo cards or with student certificates issued by the service provider.

Complementary passes are to be used with valid, at least monthly point-to-point season tickets issued by VOLÁN companies and MÁV-START Zrt.
Before the first travel, passengers are required to write the number of their passes on regular and pensioner passes; the number of their other passes issued by the given service provider on their complementary passes and the number of student passes or student certificates in pencil, legibly.
Photo cards and combined passes without photos, with the exception of half-monthly and weekly passes, are valid from the first day of a calendar month, a quarter of a year or a year until service end on the 5. day of the following month.
Half-monthly passes are valid from service start on the 6. day of a given month until service end on the 20. day of the month and also from service start on 21. until service end on the 5. day of the following month.
Weekly passes are valid for 7 calendar days, the first day of their validity is their purchase day indicated on the cover on the pass.
Ticket controllers are entitled to withdraw passengers’ travel passes and travel certificates in the following cases:
a. if travel passes and travel certificates are forged,
b. if photos are replaced or modified,
c. if photos fail to show the person clearly and recognizably
d. the season ticket (pass) is damaged to an extent that its validity or rightfulness for use is impossible to confirm,
e. the number on the pass mismatches with the number on the travel certificate, student certificate or photo card used for passenger identification,
f. in case of complementary passes, the pass issued by the other service provider is missing,
g in case of complementary passes, the pass issued by the other service provider has expired,
h. if Municipality Regulation of No. 4§ (6) is breached and the excess fare is not paid on the spot.
i. the number on the travel document is rewritten or corrected,
j. the travel document (pass) is not used by its owner,
k. the validity period of the travel document (pass) issued by the service provider has expired,
l. the passenger’s travel documents issued by the service provider have expired and the rider uses his pass
n. if the travel document is not validated,
o. if tickets have not been validated on the specific vehicles (where tickets are controlled) but somewhere else.
p. if several season ticket numbers are indicated.
q. if misuse of the season ticket is suspected (the number of document is missing from the pass).
Hand luggage transport
On the vehicles, passengers are allowed to carry not more than 2 pieces of hand baggage up to 40x50x80 cm or 1 piece of hand baggage up to 200x20x20 cm, easily portable for one person, not hindering boarding and alighting; 1 piece of sledge, 1 pair of ski, 1 bundle of saplings and 1 piece of baby carriage.
Even in compliance with the above measurements, objects that endanger the health or safety of other passengers (explosive, highly flammable, poisonous, corrosive or infectious substances, substances liable for spontaneous combustion, loaded firearms and planes of glass) or which can damage other passengers’ clothes or the furnishing of vehicles shall not be carried.
Live animal transport
Dogs shall be muzzled and on leash in vehicles. Dog fares are equal with valid ticket prices for the concerned vehicle. Exceptions: guide dogs and police dogs whose travel is free.
Other small animals (poultry, songbird, pigeon etc.) shall be transported free of charge, in hand luggage size and package.
Excluded from travel:

People suffering from infectious diseases

Children under 6 years without an attendant and inert people
Who can be excluded from travel?
-
drunken riders
-
riders who behave scandalously or disturb the comfort of other passengers in a similar way
-
riders who violate the rules
Prohibited
-
to board and to alight the vehicles after the alarm equipment has gone off;

to obstruct the closing of doors,
-
to use the alarm bell, the emergency brake unreasonably,
-
to smoke, to drink alcohol, to roller skate, to listen to the radio and to eat ice-cream in the vehicles,
-
to transport flammable and explosive substance.
The person or his/her guardian who breaches travel conditions shall pay excess charges beyond regular travel fees.
Excess charges
Beyond regular travel fees, excess charges shall be paid by those who travel without tickets or with invalid tickets, season tickets or travel documents; use concession fares illegitimately or use season tickets (student certificates for students entitled to use concessions) of which number is not written legibly; transport their dogs without separate valid tickets, muzzles and leads (with the exception of police or helper dogs, whose transport is free); who contaminate the vehicles during their travel or with their hand luggage or with transported live animals or who breach travel conditions (e.g. listen to the radio loudly).
During your journey, please consider the following:

Purchase your ticket in advance, if you have the opportunity.

Prepare your pass, ticket or the price of the ticket to be bought from the driver. Please pay with a round sum so that drivers should not give back change!

Please board our vehicles through first doors, next to drivers.

Upon boarding, please show your travel identity cards or validate your ticket purchased in advance or from the driver.

After boarding, please move into the interior of the vehicle to give space for other passengers!

If you are in a wheelchair or with a pram, please indicate it to the driver!

For safety reasons, do not talk to the driver while the vehicle is in motion.

Please use handholds when the vehicle is in motion. If there are free seats, sit down and make your journey safer.

Take care of your luggage and other values during your journey.

Please show your ticket or pass if it is requested by the ticket controller or other authorized persons.

If you wish to get off the trolleybus, please push the signal button in time!

If you find a piece of derelict luggage, please inform the driver about it!
